Our History
Concordia has a rich history of serving families in the South Puget Sound area for many years. The school traces its roots to 1899 where it began as Zion Lutheran School in North Tacoma and was operated by that congregation for 40 years. In 1939, the Concordia Lutheran School Association was formed by three churches, and Concordia Lutheran School began serving families in the Parkland area across from Pacific Lutheran University. In 1948, Concordia moved to its current campus at East 56th and B Street on a seven-acre site which now consists of four separate buildings.
In 2002, our partner school Mount Rainier Lutheran High opened its doors thereby completing the Pre-K through 12th grade educational experience. Today, Concordia is operated by seven congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and serves nearly 300 children.
The vision for the future includes satellite campuses and multiple sites throughout surrounding communities to enable us to serve even more children and families.
