- Library Procedures FAQ - Q:    How many scheduled library times does each student have? A:    One per week.   Q:    How many books may each student have checked out at any one time? A:    One, not including any birthday book donation(s).  If an additional book is needed for a report and/or assignment, arrangements will need to be made through a librarian.   Q:    Can a student renew a “checked out” book? A:    Yes and no.  Most books may be renewed up to two times.  However, the book needs to be brought into the library and renewed through a librarian.   Q:    Are students supervised while in the library? A:    Yes, students are not to be in the library or check-out any book unless a librarian is present!   Q:   What if a student finishes his/her book before the next scheduled library time and would like to return it and check out another book? A:    The student should check with his/her teacher for a convenient time to visit the library.  (Remember… the book MUST BE personally handed to a librarian and NEVER left on an unattended desk.)   Q:    What happens if a student forgets his/her library book on “Library Day”? A:    An overdue notice will be sent home with the student and he/she will not be allowed to check out another book until the “checked-out” book is returned to the library.   Q:    What about lost and/or damaged books? A:    Notices will be mailed home if the book is more than two weeks late or if the book is returned damaged.  The notice will reflect the cost of replacing the book and may be refunded if the book is found and returned in good condition before the end of the school year.  Once payment is remitted, the child may check out another book.   Q:    What can a student do to help lessen the chance of losing his/her book? A:   He/She should pick a designated spot to keep the library book that is brought home.  The student may need to be reminded by the parent on Library Day to make sure that the book is returned on time.   If you have any questions, please contact the school library.
