Dear Parents:
The weather was perfect for our Blake Island trip. We had the most amazing adventure! The Argosy boat ride was smooth. We were presented with a close up view of the Native American masks used in the performance at Tillicum Village. Dancers used the masks while telling us an orginal legend created just for students. We learned about the salmon dinner we would soon enjoy upon departure, too.
Upon arrival to Tillicum Village, the sun was glistening off the shell path to the longhouse. We were seated and invited to the buffet for delicious salmon, mac and cheese, fruit salad, carrots, fresh molasses bread, and a cookie. Jordan told me later that he went back for two more helpings of salmon! The staff are kind and patient with everyone! We finished our meal and saw a wonderful dance show with costumes, legends and music. Afterwards, the children were encouraged to ask the actors questions.
With 40 minutes of free time left, we broke into groups with chaperones and shopped the gift shop, explored the beach, or hiked a wooded trail. Then it was time to board the boat for the return trip to Seattle. Kids and parents could explore the three levels of decks and purchase snacks. The skyline view of Seattle with billowing black clouds behind was great for photos.
Thank you to all the parents who enabled us to have such an adventure!
Thanks for all your support.
