It is hard to miss Jason Foster as he walks through the hallways of CLS. At six foot seven, the Concordia alum towers over all of us...even his old basketball Coach - Al Hagen.
Jason came back to visit us after an amazing senior season of basketball at UPS. In his senior year alone, he acquired several awards in his sport including, All Conference (North West Conference), Player of the Year (see nwc.sports.com) and First Team All West Region where he was selected as the #1 ranked post forward / center. In addition to his personal awards he was most proud of his team being the first to go undefeated in conference history. The same team also had the most consecutive wins in UPS history and was ranked third in their National Tournament.
In addition to his impressive stats in basketball, Jason has also shown that he is a star player off the court as well. He has kept in contact with Coach Hagen since graduating from Concordia and has come back year after year to help with our summer basketball camps. The kids know and respect him. They even had a chance to shoot some hoops with him again during one of his visits on the familiar blacktop next to the gym.
Since obtaining his degree in business leadership with a minor in economics, Jason was offered an amazing opportunity to enter the Management Development Program at Gallo Wineries in California. In spite of offers to play basketball professionally abroad – Jason couldn’t pass up what Gallo had to offer.
The last time Jason stopped by we asked him about his years at Concordia and he had this to say:
"I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for this school. Concordia has provided me with a firm foundation - it's been my rock. To this day, if I find myself in a difficult situation, I catch myself thinking back to my time here and the everyday lessons I learned from my teachers and during chapel. I learned fundamental lessons about life and about my relationship with God. Because of Concordia, I know I always have Him to rely on."
"I consider myself so lucky that my parents gave me everything I needed to succeed in life - Concordia was one of those things. If I end up settling down in this area, my own kids will definitely attend here. "
